Thank the Lord for every kick, wiggle, squirm, (back ache, craving, and swollen foot). I just read a mother's blog about delivering her baby 20 weeks early. I've experienced loss with miscarriage, but I've never held my 20 week old baby, who never caught a breath, and laid her in a coffin. I've never had to explain to my children about the death of a sibling, although I've thought about the situation before. I've grieved for my 3 babies but I know they are with Jesus. I'm so thankful for the comfort and rest we have in that. Today I will take time to be thankful for all the little things that maybe yesterday I missed.
1. the way the sun is shining in my living room, gently showing off the dust that needs attention but reminding me it can wait.
2. the echo of children's feet on the hardwood floors, oblivious to time, and still in their jammies
3. a beautiful, sunshiny day following a day of exhaustion, rain and a leaky basement
4. an almost empty laundry basket (because what else do you do when you are too tired to function in normal capacity)
5. the remnants of a fort that turned into a train, house, and restaurant, and used to make fun memories on a gloomy day
6. remembering my 4 year old's 2 things he was thankful for at bedtime the other day: daddy coming home for lunch and all the special things we got to do (eating ice cream out)
7. my 2 year old sliding down the stairs this morning, full of smiles, crazy hair and sporting her upside down sunglasses, with her princess jammies.
8. my sweet, patient husband never complaining about dealing with my meltdowns of emotional insanity (enough said)
9. the thought of my son carrying around a new treasure (which happens to be an old corduroy vest he found while cleaning out my grandpa's garage)
10. every time we play pretend, the good guy wins and the bad guy really is a little good anyway.
