Some days are just like that. You know what I mean. The days that you can't wait until bedtime, but then bedtime comes and you are reminded of why you are so tired. Coughing, stuffy noses, "MA!", crying, rocking, bouncing, bringing them to bed with you to get more sleep (except they don't actually like sleeping with you), foot in the face....you know what I mean, right? Constantly telling your beautiful little princess to get her finger out of her nose (sorry, Ava), wash her hands, and "please put your brother down". Looking down at that ornery little (naked) boy, as you chase him down to put on the pajamas that were worn all day.
Did I mention he learned how to take his clothes off? Well, actually, Ava taught him how. Isn't that nice? :)
Oh. And the bruises. My kids can be crazy. Ava and Liam were playing ring-around the exersaucer (not a real game?) and Liam slid right into the piano bruising his cheek. I didn't even know a cheek could bruise like that. It just adds to the bruise on his forehead from head-butting the desk. ON PURPOSE.
Preschool and toddler time can be tough on a mama and daddy. (You should see my passport picture. Are my dark circles really that bad?!) But at the end of the day, I have this:
- Ava's song (with help from Daddy) "Mom's the bomb...."
- Liam's giggle
- Ava's way of throwing a word out there, just to test it, not really understanding the meaning, "Mom, you're so modest. I love you."
- Ava's sweet thoughts on heaven. "Thao lives in heaven now. I can't live there yet but I get to someday. It's beautiful there." And, "Thao is sledding with Jesus on the streets of gold!"
-Liam's cookie dance (cutest thing. ever.)
-Memories of Thao's cookie dance
And even though I feel like all I did today was say "no" a lot, maybe I am a little tired, and maybe Ava thinks it's hilarious to answer me with "What, Tiffany" instead of "Yes, Mom"...
I love it. I love the little things, the Valentines, the unfathomable amount of laundry, the smiles, the snuggles, the crayon wrappers on the floor. I will choose to treasure these moments, because these moments won't last.
