I can't help but think about 2 years ago....
We were driving home from somewhere and Thao asked why God made the really big storms. As a mom, that seems like a legit question, as a 5 year old, that seems like an awesome question to ask. Thao was our thinker, he contemplated, observed, and analyzed just about anything that came his way.
He was amazed by storms. He loved watching them from the front porch with Jeff. He loved checking the weather and following the storms on the radar. He loved collecting hail and sailing paper boats down the "river" in the street. But, then there were really big storms. Storms that would lead to tornado warnings. And, armed with flashlight, he would head downstairs, with a nervous excitement building on his face.
He always made sure we were all (including his dog, Jack) accounted for. He often made sure there was a snack involved and a way to keep checking the weather.
But, then that day, I wonder what crossed his mind when he saw the sun setting behind the corn fields blurring by. Why did he ask?
Why does God make the big storms? I mean I know why he makes the little ones, but why does God make the really big ones?
After a little thought, I remember answering him. Because then we can depend on Him more. He can get us through.
We need Him.
He doesn't send the bad storms, but He does get us through them. I'm not here to debate. I'm just here to share...
Even though we are praising God for the marvelous blessing He has given....
We also praise God through the storm. Because He is good and His love endures and His grace carries us. And He loves us.
