Welcome

Hi! I’m Tiffany. I’m prone to using a lot of words to make things sound lovely. Because of that I have written and re-written this about a dozen times just trying to be concise. You just want to know what you are getting into, right?

Here’s what you’ll find in my little space: writings/musings/stories on my life. I have a big(ish) family; five kids and my wonderful husband. Topics include: homeschool, travel, adoption, child loss/grief, marriage and living a Christ-centered life.

We strive to live simply and love well. Thanks for joining me on this journey. I’m so glad you’re here.

Yes, I confess, instead of blogging at naptime today I decided to take a real nap!!! Yay for me! The opportunity so rarely shows itself but it (kinda) did today. Though, it was not without repercussions. See, yesterday I tried this but failed. As soon as I dozed off I heard what I thought to be water, gushing and splashing as it hit the hardwood floors, then little hands, yep you guessed it, smacking the puddles. I jumped up off the couch to find the children (whom I thought to be playing so nicely with puzzles and the like) had decided to take it upon themselves to get their own snack. And of course, they were feeling like having cereal WITH MILK. And yes, to answer all those wondering minds.....I would say a little more than half a gallon of milk spilled all over the floor, table, chairs and Ava. It was definitely Ava who spilled the milk. Thao was just observing quietly while enjoying his bowl of cereal (with just the right amount of milk, I might add). All in all this is what we've learned from this experience:

                 1. Ava is not ready to give up naps.
2.Mommy is not allowed to rest while both children are awake and hungry (99.999% of the time).
3.If Thao would have poured Ava's milk for her, their would have been fewer tears.

The punishment was in fact that they would be separated during quiet time today, therefore giving me the opportunity to take a nap. :) Thao got into way less trouble by himself during quiet time today. He actually did very well, only getting into a couple of boxes of school things (this is a huge accomplishment for us, he usually goes right for the sweets or trying to bake). One box was full of science experiment kits but I think he learned from my reaction yesterday, he didn't want to deal with the wrath of a pregnant, sleep-deprived mom.

More to the story....as I poured the milk for breakfast this morning, chunks came out with the milk. Yuck. I soon realized these chunks were actually cheerios followed by a spoon. I gave them the milk anyway, waiting for them to notice.(I did pull the spoon out.) Their reaction:
Thao: Cool! Bee Oh's (Honey Nut Cheerios) in my milk! Ava, do you have some, too?
Ava: Yes, I do! (with a huge smile) Yay!

So, I wrote on the gallon "Kids Only". We're not wasting that milk! :)
